Utah banks host Native art

Utah’s Traveling Treasures: Native American exhibit comes to Providence bank

By Devin FelixNext time you stop in at the bank to cash a check, you may want to take a moment to check out a Navajo sand painting.

The Utah Museum of Natural History’s Traveling Treasures exhibit arrived Thursday to go on display at the Providence branch of Zions Bank. It’s made up of handmade Native American jewelry, dolls, clothing and other artwork collected from the Four Corners area during the past several decades.

Since the start of 2008, the exhibit has traveled to Zions Bank branches throughout Utah. It just came from Farmington and in September it will travel to Vernal, said Scott Pettett, a public relations associate for the museum.
